How the comparison works
The checker compares your texts line by line using the same longest-common-subsequence method as professional diff tools: it finds the longest run of lines both texts share, then marks everything else as added or removed. Two options soften the comparison: Ignore whitespace treats lines that differ only in spaces or indentation as identical (great for code), and Ignore case treats "Hello" and "hello" as the same line.
Common uses
Writers compare draft versions, students check what a rewrite actually changed, developers eyeball config files, and anyone signing an updated document can confirm the other side only changed what was agreed. For very large files (over 1,500 lines per side), split them into parts.

Is my text uploaded or stored?
No. The comparison runs entirely in your browser; close the tab and the text is gone.
Why does a moved paragraph show as removed + added?
Line-based diff cannot detect moves — a paragraph pasted elsewhere looks like a deletion plus an insertion. The words are identical, and the summary counts make that easy to spot.
Can I compare code?
Yes — turn on "Ignore whitespace" if indentation changes should not count as differences.
