iPhones save photos as HEIC — efficient, but Windows, older software and many websites still refuse it. This tool decodes the HEIC photo right in your browser (using the open-source heic2any decoder) and hands you a standard JPG anyone can open.
The decoder loads once from a CDN (a few MB), then works locally — your photo itself is never uploaded, which is more than most HEIC sites can say. Decoding a large 48 MP photo can take several seconds on a phone. Some very new HEIC variants (10-bit/HDR captures) are not supported by browser decoders; if one fails, your iPhone can re-export it: open the photo, Share → Save as File, or set Settings → Camera → Formats to "Most Compatible" for future photos.
At the default 92% quality, visually yes. HEIC stores a bit more dynamic range than JPG can hold, so extreme HDR shots may look slightly flatter.
